My Five Favourite – Photos

A quick, short and simple blog post as Me and Nick are currently busy with life in general.

I had seen a few blog posts recently on other travel blogs of their favourite photos from their trips. We may not have been on as many as them but I though… can I sum up our trips into only 5 pictures? Probably not, but I can try!

As I scoured through my pictures and picked my favourite photos I realised a slight theme, I may be a little impartial to nighttime photos and pretty colourful lights. Oh well, it’s whatever floats your boat as they say. To me, they can take me right back to that place and remember everything we did.

So let’s get started…

A day in… Helsinki, Finland

On our second day in Tallinn, we headed across on the ferry to Helsinki, Finland. It was super easy, having bought our tickets online before we left for Estonia. On the day it was just a case of simply heading down to the port, which we had checked out the day before so we knew where to go.

After fighting our way through the queues to get on the ferry we then saw everyone run off, people were upstairs, downstairs, in the bar, in the restaurant and the window sills. It soon became clear that seating was limited as after 10 minutes it all settled down and many people were sitting (or sleeping) on the floor.

96 hours in… Berlin, Germany Pt 1

Wow, just where to begin? Berlin still has to be one of my favourite places we have visited (which I know I say often but its true). Just the sheer scale means that you could never do or see everything in one go.

We were there last October for our standard four day holiday and I feel there was still so much we didn’t see, although we made a good go of it. While we just missed Oktoberfest we did manage to time it very well for the light festival. When I started writing this blog I knew it would be a long one, so much so it now has two parts and one all about the festival of lights as it deserves its own special mention.

A day in… Monte Carlo, Monaco

After a great breakfast and waiting at the bus stop in the massive queue we finally got on the bus and was riding along the coast. We arrived in scorching Monte Carlo and our first thought was where to start?

Nick had already visited both Nice and Monaco a few months beforehand so had a rough idea of where certain spots were and places to go. We spent most of the morning just walking around and doing a loop, this was however slow going due to the heat of the day.

How we… book our holidays

Most of our planning happens while we’re still on holiday. We’re already looking to the next place, next country and next trip.

We both have now, unintentionally, found our ‘roles’ when it comes to holiday planning. Nick is logistics man, if you need flights, transfers or use of public transport he’s the one to call. Me, I’m more excursions and entertainment. I can be logistically minded, as hotels falls to me, but I can find lists of things to see from one quick search.

As you read, you will most likely find these steps are along the same lines to what you would expect flights, hotel etc. Obviously you need flights and somewhere to stay, they are a given, but what about all the little things?
